Bird Journal V2 Update

We would like to send a special thank you to those who emailed us a sample of your data.  We are very pleased with how import has progressed and is nearing completion.  Currently import supports Bird Journal, Wildlife Recorder and eBird formats.  AviSys and Birder's Diary records can be imported by exporting first to eBird format.  Imports from other formats will be added at a later date.  We have created an easy to use import wizard that will guide you through the import process, making sure no data is left behind.

In version 2 we have taken the opportunity to pack in loads of other useful features that will enhance your experience further.

These include:
  • Checklist style entry
  • Entry by Latin names
  • Entry of wildlife
  • Entry using quick codes
  • Create custom bird checklists
  • Create custom wildlife checklists
  • Share checklists
  • Personalise interface skin
  • Personalise species names i.e. display local names, Latin names or both
  • Personalise species list ordering i.e. alphabetical or taxonomic ordering
  • Built-in checklists for most countries of the World
  • The latest taxonomic lists
  • Database migration for easy upgrade
  • Database restore to restore backups
Bird Journal version 2 is scheduled for launch on the 15th May at The Birdwatchers Spring Fair in Tamworth.  We will officially launch on our website on the 17th May.

Want to buy Bird Journal now?  With almost less than a month to go we would like to offer any new customers to pay the difference only, when upgrading to Bird Journal version 2.

Will the checklist style entry replace the smart search function when entering birds seen on a trip. I have been very impressed with the smart function.

The smart search feature has not changed.  Checklist style entry is simply another way to enter sightings.  This will speed up entry for those who prefer to use checklists.

Will users of Bird Journel v1 have to pay a full purchase price for v2. I paid $60.00 for my current version and would hate to have to spend another 60.00 or more for v2, no matter how much I would like to be able to import all my eBird records.
