Bird Journal v2.1 Point Release

We are pleased to announce the official release of Bird Journal version 2.1.  The point release includes fixes to problems people were having with version 2.0.

What's changed:

  •   Fixed spaces being allowed at the start or end of Wildlife Family names.
  •   Fixed crash when Wildlife items are used, where Family names have spaces at the start or end.
  •   Fixed crash when resolving locations using the import feature.
  •   Fixed a number of incorrect species migrations and assignments.
  •   Fixed problems showing the migration wizard.
  •   Fixed species counts not always being accurate, as they didn't consider the selected primary taxonomy.
  •   Fixed occasional crash after removing an entry.
  •   Fixed some subspecies being incorrectly grouped.
  •   Fixed occasional crash after edit locations, cancel was pressed.
  •   Improved error reporting during startup.
Bird Journal version 2 users are entitled to a free upgrade and an email will be sent to you with the upgrade details.  If you have not received this email please get in touch.

Bluebird Forum

We are pleased to announce the launch of our very own company forum!  This is now live on our website, and can be viewed by clicking on Forum on the menu.

The forum is a place where Bird Journal users can go to share checklists, wildlife checklists and synonym lists, to discuss new features or problems, or just to chat about birding.

You don't need to register to download lists created by other users.  And if you want to contribute, then registration is quick and easy.

So if you create a list in Bird Journal that you think will be of benefit to others, please do consider sharing it on our forum.  We look forward to building a very valuable resource for all Bird Journal users to enjoy.

We would like to send a special thank you to those who emailed us a sample of your data.  We are very pleased with how import has progressed and is nearing completion.  Currently import supports Bird Journal, Wildlife Recorder and eBird formats.  AviSys and Birder's Diary records can be imported by exporting first to eBird format.  Imports from other formats will be added at a later date.  We have created an easy to use import wizard that will guide you through the import process, making sure no data is left behind.
